Visit Owen Park Neighborhood
Where to find us
We are located just west of Owen Park, and only a few blocks northwest of the heart of downtown Tulsa. Come visit our tree-lined boulevards, and beautiful historic homes. Right in the center of it all, find the Washington Irving Monument. Visit the site Irving described 175 years ago when travelling the west. Owen Park was the city's first park, and has a great history of its own. We have lots to see here in the Owen Park Neighborhood, so stop by for a visit, you may decide to stay.
2008 Board of Directors
Meet your 2008 OPNA Board of Directors. At the November 5th, 2007 meeting we held our annual elections. Carolyn Henning and Judy Reed are back as members at large, as well as Richard Hill, who we welcome to the association board. Roxanne Snider is continuing her hard work as unofficial historian, and also as treasurer, and David Parker is secretary. The vice-president is another new addition to the association, Lindsay Saunders. We also have a new president for 2008, with Laurie Keely taking over that post. We thank them all for their dedication and hard work, and for another great year!
Tri-Hood Alliance
The Tri-Hood Alliance is made up of the Owen Park Neighborhood Association, along with the neighborhood associations of Brady Heights and Crosbie Heights. The idea behind the alliance is that by joining forces, we have many more members and many more constituents asking to be heard. The three neighborhoods share many of the same problems and goals, and we hope that by working with local political officials we can help each other reach mutually beneficial ends.
Owen Park Neighborhood Clean Up
The neighborhood is really starting to look good again after a rough winter. The 2007 ice storm was hard on our trees, but with the help of lots of kind neighbors, and the crews that worked on cleanup all over the city, everything is getting back to normal. We also had new trees planted in yards around the neighborhood thanks to Up with Trees. Thanks to all that have helped, and let's work to continue to keep Owen Park a beautiful neighborhood.
Warning! Scam Artist In Neighborhood
There is a man named (or at least calling himself) Tony or Anthony Kline, and I'm not sure on the spelling of his last name, that's knocking on doors in the neighborhood, claiming to be your neighbor, and asking for money. He has several different stories, but always wants $17. If he comes to your door, he is not your neighbor! He doesn't live in our neighborhood, and has pulled this scam in other neighborhoods as well. Don't give him any money, try to see where he goes, and call the police. He has been arrested at least once for this, but is still trying to scam Owen Park residents. Maybe, if he we quit giving him money and keep having him arrested, he'll give up.
Owen Park Block Party
October 13th, 2007 was a day of fun and festivities for the Owen Park Neighborhood. To celebrate the 175th anniversary of Washington Irving's visit to this area, we had a get together at the monument. We had live music, food and drinks, and a reading from Irving's account of the area. We visited with our neighbors while enjoying a beautiful day. A good time was had by all, and we hope you got to join us. If you didn't make it this year, plan on coming out next year!
